We are committed to protecting the privacy of www.heartstats.org users and the overall integrity of the internet. To that end, we are disclosing here any issues related to privacy in the collection of personally identifiable information from users of www.heartstats.org.

We are not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of Web sites to which www.heartstats.org may link.

  • Information you provide to us is not provided or sold to any third parties.
  • Information you provide on the website is used only for the purpose of replying to your enquiry or sending our email newsletter.
  • Our email newsletter always includes a simple unsubscribe mechanism.

What personally identifiable information do we collect about you?

  • We collect information through subscription to our email newsletter via a sign-up form and via our contact us/feedback form.
  • We require subscribers to provide us with a name, whether you are a student, health professional etc and email address.
  • We use cookies for the purposes of collecting statistics on site visitors and determining the level of repeat visitors. These are not personally identifiable - see further details below.

What do we do with the information collected?

  • We may perform statistical analyses of enquiries submitted via the website. This information is not disclosed to any third parties.
  • We send email newsletter subscribers a regular email newsletter. If you wish to opt out of receiving such information from us, please use the unsubscribe option included in all newsletters.
  • Information is stored securely on servers which are protected by a central firewall and back-up firewall which monitor activity and hostile attacks. The server location is monitored by CCTV and a monitored alarm which is linked directly to the Police.

Do we share the information we collect?

  • We will not sell, trade or rent your personal information to anyone outside of the British Heart Foundation Health Promotion Group. 
  • We will provide subscribers a summary of all personal information that we process on them upon request. We will charge £10 for such requests. To make such a request, use the contact us form below and include the email address that you registered with along with your organisation name. Personal information will be provided within 28 days.

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file created by a website and then stored on your computer. You can control if and when you allow cookies to be stored on your machine, and can view or delete any cookies stored.

How does www.heartstats.org use cookies?

  • Cookies make it possible for us to better collect statistical information on visitors to our site, and in particular identify repeat visitors. This statistical information informs our content development and marketing of the site.
  • The cookie we create contains no personal details, only a unique identifying code that allows our system to identify repeat visitors to our system. We store this identifying cookie in addition to your computer or network’s IP address; the date and time you visited; the page you visited and if available the previous site or page that linked you to this page (for example a search engine).
  • We cannot identify other websites you visit or what pages on those sites you visit other than that mentioned above. We cannot read personal information from your computer, or read information created in cookies from other websites. We cannot identify who each website visitor is, or gain any private information on each visitor.
