It is recommended that adults consume 400g or at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

Data from the latest National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) for adults show that in Great Britain just 13% of men and 15% of women consume the daily recommended five or more portions of fruit and vegetables.

Consumption of fruit and vegetables is lowest in young adults. Of the young adults (aged 19-24) surveyed in the NDNS, none of the men and just 4% of women ate five or more portions of fruit or vegetables a day.
