This aim of this publication is to highlight the increasing burden in the UK of CVD due to diabetes, and to provide statistics to help those planning prevention and healthcare services.

Statistics are available on the following:

  • Prevalence of diabetes
  • Mortality from diabetes
  • Morbidity from diabetes
  • Prevalence of risk factors for CVD in people with diabetes
  • Treatment of diabetes and prevention of CVD in people with diabetes
  • Prevalence of behavioural risk factors for Type 2 diabetes in the general population

The supplement was published by the British Heart Foundation in November 2001.
