The heartstats website is the most comprehensive and up-to-date source of statistics on cardiovascular disease in the UK.

The site aims to show:

  • the extent to which cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the major health problem in the UK
  • the variation in CVD mortality, morbidity, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention and risk factors, by sex, age, socio-economic group, ethnic origin and geographical location
  • trends in CVD mortality, morbidity, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention and risk factors over time
  • progress towards government targets for CVD prevention, rehabilitation and treatment

We aim to describe rather than explain. We make no attempt to draw conclusions about causality.
